The pursuit of perfection poisons a soul and robs the spirit of joy. Struggling to do what we believe we “should” is not a path to peace. We are bombarded with advice on how to manifest our best lives – we should save for retirement; we should refinance our homes; we should floss our teeth; we should take time to exercise and meditate; we should stay in touch with friends and family; and on and on the list grows. These are all important and beneficial reminders. But, when they start to create stress, they no longer serve our well being. We are wired to want to be the best that we can be. But, when life is crowded out with “shoulds,” bliss is missed. Our soul resents this pressure and finds a way to shout: Don’t should on me. So, once again, let us seek balance in our lives. Release the need to be perfect and do the best we can with joyful hearts. We are here to love and be loved and that is true perfection
